چکیده

Over the past two decades, the development of methods for visualizing and analysing specimens digitally, in three and even four dimensions, has transformed the study of living and fossil organisms. However, the initial promise that the widespread application of such methods would facilitate access to the underlying digital data has not been fully achieved. The underlying datasets for many published studies are not readily or freely available, introducing a barrier to verification and reproducibility, and the reuse of data. There is no current agreement or policy on the amount and type of data that should be made available alongside studies that use, and in some cases are wholly reliant on, digital morphology. Here, we propose a set of recommendations for minimum standards and additional best practice for three-dimensional digital data publication, and review the issues around data storage, management and accessibility.

A field investigation of application of digital terrestrial photogrammetry to characterize geometric properties of discontinuities in open-pit slopes

In order to analyze the slope stability in open-pit mines, the structural parameters of rock mass such as persistence and spatial orientation of discontinuities are characterized through field surveys, which involve spending high costs and times as well as posing high risks of rock toppling and rock fall. In the present work, a new application of terrestrial digital photogrammetry is introduced...

Correlation between condyle morphology and disk position of disc displacement in patients with TMJ internal derangements by magnetic resonance imaging

Background and Aims :The most frequent cause of TMJ dysfunction is internal derangement which that largely involves  the function of the articular disc. Anterior disc displacement (ADD) is one of the major findings in TMJ internal derangement. Since the importance of knowledge of its etiology and also The role of all structural indicators association with TMD was not evaluated, in this researc...

Evaluation of morphological variations of Iranian mandible condyles

Aims: The morphology of the condyle varies according to the race of the population in different places. Moreover, the identification of morphologies can be effective in diagnosing the pathogenesis and type of treatment of patients. Therefore, in this study, the researchers examine condyl morphology images using digital panoramic imaging. Materials and methods: This descriptive-analytical stud...

Challenges Faced by Digital Immigrant Nurse Educators in Adopting Flexible Learning Options during the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Phenomenological Study

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many educational institutions to shift to flexible learning options (FLO), which require technology in teaching. Digital immigrant nurse educators, who are educators born before 1985, may need help adopting FLO due to their limited knowledge and skills in technology. This study aims to explore the experiences of digital immigrant nurse educators' cha...

DinoMorph: Parametric Modeling of Skeletal Structures

A parametric approach towards modeling is advocated for skeletal reconstructions. Three-dimensional digital reconstructions are compared with conventional two-dimensional illustrations, particularly silhouette drawings. The advantages of the parametric system provided by the DinoMorph software include: open access to all data comprising the model and the rendering algorithms for the independen...
